Who we are

The Peace Regional Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a provincially-incorporated registered charity dedicated to the welfare of animals.

What we do

The Peace Regional SPCA provides food, shelter, medical care and the opportunity for adoption; to unwanted, surrendered, lost and unclaimed animals while promoting responsible pet ownership through its educational programs and public fundraising events.

The Shelter

The Peace Regional SPCA Shelter was first established in 1985 and has been a home for those that have none ever since. The SPCA has made great efforts to stay true to the overall mission, which has been to provide shelter and temporary refuge to those animals who are homeless or are in need of respite from cruelty and neglect.

Our mandate includes:

  • Finding forever families for adoptable animals
  • Reuniting lost pets and their owners
  • Controlling overpopulation of small animals through spaying/neutering
  • Educating the public regarding responsible pet ownership and respect for animal life
  • Securing basic medical services for animals in need
  • Cooperate with the Town of Peace River in addressing the problem of unwanted and neglected small animals
